Barrie and Area Chinese Community Association (BACA)

In recent years, more and more people with Chinese background are settling down in Barrie and the surrounding areas. To meet the increasing needs of developing a sense of community, Barrie and Area Chinese Community Association (BACA) was registered as a non-profit organization in November 2009.

In response to the changing social context, BACA is to be renamed as Simcoe County Chinese Association (SCCA). SCCA aims to achieve some of the following objectives:

- To better serve the Simcoe residents of Chinese origin by enhancing their physical and mental health through cultural, social, educational, and recreational activities

- To support and empower our members and their families in their efforts on establishing a successful life in Simcoe County

- To preserve our unique cultural heritage and to share it with those who are interested to enhance the cultural diversity of our society

- To inspire our members to embrace Canadian values and serve together with other ethnic groups to build inclusive and vibrant communities

- To assist newcomers including refugees with their settlement in Barrie and surrounding areas to achieve a smooth transition with their new life here

- To continue our cultural performances for the local seniors, participation of annual Celebration Barrie and parks cleanup events, as well as other regular services
